Grants to USA high school students to recognize meaningful STEM projects. The program is intended for students who are passionate about STEM and seeking to make a positive influence in their community. Grants are available for students in grades 7 to 12. Additional funding will be awarded to the student's school.

The Contest is intended to recognize students who excel academically and have undertaken a meaningful project related to the areas of science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics (“STEM”), henceforth referred to as “STEM Scholars”. Grand Prize grants will be awarded to five (5) students to enable them to continue and expand upon the success for which they are being recognized. The sponsor will also award The Grand Prize Winners’ schools (or STEM-focused educational programs) to help them continue to foster STEM education in their local community.

Estimated Size of Grant:

1 Winner: 7-8th Grade: $4,000 for the student, $1,000 for the school: (Must be 13 years or older)

2 Winners: 9-10th Grade: $7,500 for the student, $2,500 for the school

2 Winners: 11-12th Grade: $10,000 for the student, $2,500 for the school

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility of Participant: Participants must be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia that have reached the age of majority in his or her state of residence at the time of submitting a nomination. Participant must nominate someone with whom the Participant is personally acquainted, and Participant must have Nominee's permission to submit the nomination and must have the necessary consent of Nominee’s parent or legal guardian to disclose Nominee’s personally identifiable information and student data. Participants may nominate themselves as a Nominee; however, each Participant may submit only one (1) nomination. Additional nominations will be void.

Employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives of the Contest Entities or their respective affiliates, and the immediate family members of each (defined as spouse, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren and stepfamily) are not eligible as Participants or Nominees. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

Pre-Application Information:

The 2021 Science FriXion Student Grant submission deadline is January 15th, 2022.

- Nomination Period August 1st, 2021 at 12:00 a.m. – January 15th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
- Judging Period January 15th, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. – April 30th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
- Grand Prize Winner Announced On or before June 30th, 2022

Mailed Submissions must be postmarked on or before January 14th, 2022 and received by Contest Entities on or before January 30th, 2022.

Participants must describe in 1,000 – 1,500 handwritten words why Participant believes the Nominee to be a STEM Scholar (the “Nomination Story” or, in plural, the “Nomination Stories”). Nomination Stories that are not handwritten by Participant or Participant’s authorized representative will be void and the nomination will be disqualified from the Contest. Individuals with disabilities rendering them unable to handwrite a Nomination Story should contact the Sponsor via email in order to request accommodation.
