Grants of up to $5,000 to USA nonprofit organizations for projects in a range of focus areas. Funding is intended to provide assistance in the areas of health, medical research, the arts, social services, ecology, and programs benefitting minority groups. Preference will be given to smaller, grass-roots groups with local appeal and the support of volunteers.
Only not-for-profit organizations with current IRS 501(c)(3) designation are eligible for grants.
Organizations who function under the “umbrella” of another 501(c)(3) organization are eligible for granting with adequate documentation of relationship. All finances and charters must go through the parent organization to be qualified for funding.
The Foundation generally prefers smaller, grass-roots groups with local appeal and the support of volunteers.
Ineligible
The Foundation cannot consider requests from individuals or associations based in foreign countries, and does not normally support operating expenses, salaries, payroll, endowments, major building projects, or major acquisitions. The Foundation does not make permanent commitments of support.
Pre-Application Information
Applications submitted via the website are accepted from March 1 through July 1, or whenever the application limit has been reached.
The foundation reviews all applications during the annual meeting in early October. You will receive a decision about your application by November. Please do NOT mail in a paper copy of your application.
Grants are awarded at the annual meeting of the Timmons Foundation board in early October. Notification of grant funding is given to all applicants within a month of the meeting.
Due to the increasing number of grant proposals that the Foundation receives annually, the board has determined that there is a need to limit the number that the Foundation will consider for funding. Please keep in mind that even if an application has been provided to the foundation prior to the deadline, if the Foundation has already received the maximum number it will not be considered for funding.
