Grant Description
Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for projects that promote systems change related to the arts and music. Applicants are required to meet with staff prior to submitting a proposal. Funding is intended to support initiatives in areas such as policy and research analyses, advocacy tools and training for arts and cultural leaders, and cross-sector activities that connect the arts with other interest groups. Applicants must serve the Los Angeles, California area or have a national focus.

The purpose of the program is to achieve positive changes in the arts, such as increased public funding for programming, support for policy changes, new research, and heightened public engagement.

This year, the Foundation invites a broader group of eligible organizations to apply for support, in line with aims to support systemic change via empowering organizations working at the intersection of music, learning, and well-being.  Organizations must be able to identify the system it seeks to impact, demonstrate why it is well-positioned to take on this system change, explain why its work is a priority for the field, and share accomplishments and/or progress toward achieving sustainable solutions.  The Foundation anticipates grants will support activities such as:

  1. Research and policy analyses that promote the need for arts (specifically music) to change and improve circumstances,
  2. Cross-sector initiatives that cultivate allies and build bridges between the arts and other interest groups,
  3. Advocacy training and tools that build the capacity of arts and cultural leaders to understand and proactively influence issues impacting the arts and community vitality, and/or
  4. Designing solutions that shift the circumstances within a system to promote efficiency and sustainability.
