About the Organization
- Organization category
- Public Charity
- Mission
- “The mission of Northwest Connect is to demonstrate love and respect by serving our neighbors through opportunities which empower families to improve their quality of life.”
- Programs or services
- We have an African American congregation that meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, an Ukrainian Congregation that meets on Sundays, a local "Dinner Church" that meets on Mondays for the local community as well as a Children's program that meets here weekly to serve local children a meal and "a little Jesus" through crafts, movies and games. These are all along with with our normal Tuesday and Thursday Food Pantry participants.
- Detailed programs
- We operate a Food Pantry that serves Muslim, African, Ukrainian families as well as many other refugees who have relocated to the Spokane area. We also serve many retired senior citizens and low income families in the immediate Hillyard neighborhood of Spokane, WA . Our doors are open to anyone in need, we do not scan where they live by race, religion or zip codes. If they need, we provide!
- Target Audience
- We are searching for those who can provide SECURITY funds to help secure our facility more. We have the African families as well as the Ukrainian families who both come to meet for their services in their religious attire, exposing themselves to the public outside which puts them in danger. As well, we have these same individuals as well as Muslims that come to the Food Pantry on Tuesdays and Thursdays to pick up food.
We need money from some organization willing to help provide funds for SECURITY Cameras and lighting. - Geographic Focus
- We serve the greater community of Spokane, WA
- Current projects
- We are currently trying to bring the building we serve in, a 50+ year old church up to standard codes and are having to spend money where money is needed for the food pantry. We need to raise funds for operational and structural expenses.
- Organization goals
- • Increase from 11,000 to 15,000 individuals being served annually.
• Increase our Thursday operations by 2 hours
. Open up on Wednesdays for operation
Long term goal - 5 year
• Increase to 20,000 individuals being served annually - Leadership
- We currently employee an Executive Director, Food Pantry Manager, Admin. Assistant and 2 part-time janitors (one for Food Pantry and one for misc. events) All employees are part time but we would like to be able to increase their hours.

We are also seeking funds for a remodeled professional kitchen to help serve meals for the multiple congregations that meet here and serve meals. We have a 1950's kitchen that has never been remodeled or updated.
